Day 16: White water rafting in paradise!

Hola!
Today was an amazing day! I went white water river rafting for the first time. It was so much fun! However, I was disappointed because there was supposed to be a guy in a kayak taking pictures during the trip and the camera broke...so no pictures. But I wanted to show you how beautiful it is! So I took a few from the internet through google images:
All these pictures are things I saw today--it was seriously that beautiful! No it was GORGEOUS!!! There were so many waterfalls that went right into the Pacuare river plus it was a true rain forest. I honestly think it was more pretty then the la Paz waterfalls we went to yesterday. Also, we got to go under some waterfalls! Which was so much fun!
Here is a picture of a crew "high five-ing" after going under a waterfall. We did that a lot. Our guide, Guillermo, was so funny and made the whole trip unforgettable. Our raft had 2 chants. One was when Guillermo would say, "What is your profession?" and we'd all yell "Oorahh" five times and then do the high five with our paddles. Then we had a "music" one in which we'd pat the beat to "we will rock you" with our paddles and then sing that song. We'd do those chants whenever we went by another raft. Then if you got close to another raft you'd do an "Attack" and we'd all splash the other raft and they'd splash us with their paddles. We got really wet. :) But you could tell that our guide really loved his job. We asked him about it and he only gets to do it during the rainy season. Otherwise he helps his grandfather with milking their cows. He was so funny! Cause he then told us in an "old grandfather voice" how much his grandpa loves his cows... oh it was a blast.
This is the canyon we went through. It was absolutely AMAZING! cause there were those blue butterflies flying around, with the waterfalls, the cool rocks, and sounds of the rain forest. I was in awe. Then our guide pushed one of the girls in and told us to go swimming. So we all jumped in and swam here, too! Now the pics I've shown have looked very calm... so here is one that shows the class 4 and 5 rapids we went through! They were tough! I'm sore now...but they were so much fun!

In conclusion, I had fun today! Now it's time to hit the books! I'm so busy these next two weeks because it's getting toward the end of the class. So lots of presentations and tests! Like this week I have a test tomorrow, presentation Tuesday, and I have my patient simulation on Thursday! Which is a big proportion of our grade. So I have something everyday this week because we don't have school on Wednesday since it's a national holiday here, which is nice because of all the stuff we have! Plus, it gives me a day to prepare for my simulation.
Tonight we celebrated my tico Dad's birthday! Erica, Emily, and I baked him some brownies (which were delicious!) and we sang to him. It was nice, and I think he appreciated it! :) Well, that's about it. Oh! I put some pictures up from yesterday! So take a look! However, more pictures are coming from yesterday. It's just taking me awhile since I took so many pictures. But I promise they'll be up soon! :)
Buenos Noches!

  1. The whitewater rafting trip is the ultimate way to get away if you love the outdoors and don’t mind getting a little wet.
